But first, take a tour of the show’s London filming locations... The extra but convenient plastic cutlery, chopsticks and sauce packets that restaurants throw in your takeout bag may soon disappear for good. Specifically, the “Skip the Stuff” bill would prohibit the addition of eating utensils, napkins, condiment packets, and extra food and beverage containers to customers with their takeout and delivery orders, according to the bill. The hope is to cut down on single-use plastic that can’t be recycled and ends up in landfills and take away the financial burden of purchasing these items from small businesses, according to the Council. Every year, more than 320 million tons of plastic are consumed globally, with 95% of plastic only used once and 14% for recycling, the bill states. In a statement, Andrew Rigie, the executive director of the NYC Hospitality Alliance, said the group also approves of the bill.2 months ago Time Out
Ditch Victoria Park skate sessions this winter because there’s a brand new American skating rink coming to London next month that’s basically a nightclub on wheels. The London opening marks the first permanent, all-year-round venture since the original location hung up its skates. The 7-month long summer residency, which will return to NYC in the spring of 2023 provided sanctum to the roller skate community. The new home for Flipper’s London is a two-floor, grade II-listed former power station (no, not Battersea). The 34,000-square-foot flagship venue has been extensively renovated and transformed into a rollerskating rink, venue and exhibition space.5 months ago Time Out

However, its stubborn refusal to do so will now mean more strike action across the railway network and a very disruptive overtime ban. In February, Aslef rail workers rejected a pay rise that would amount to around 4 percent a year for two years. What will the proposed anti-strike laws mean for rail strikes in London?1 month ago Time Out

During early voting in Arizona’s Pima County in August, local election workers had a series of confrontations with poll watchers determined to prevent voter fraud. One of the poll watchers complained loudly about “fraudulent elections.” Another had to be reprimanded multiple times about trying to view private voter data. But this year, watching the poll watchers is becoming a full-time job for local election officials. At worst, it could lead to further harassment of election workers and deepening distrust in the country’s democratic systems. The large-scale recruitment push by right-wing groups is unlikely to increase election transparency if it’s rooted in disinformation, says Hasen of UC-Irvine.5 months ago TIME
