Nova Scotia’s PC government revealed a multi-point plan Wednesday to address problems in emergency rooms and improve ambulance response times. Premier Tim Houston says a number of the initiatives began as pilot projects and are about to move forward permanently. Houston has said the plan could cost “tens of millions of dollars,” but an exact dollar figure hasn’t been released. “We know there’s a lot of work to do in the system and I’ve always been very clear that it’s going to cost money. But the province is struggling with a lack of health-care workers -- something pointed out by critics of the plan.
Protests organized by local human rights groups and Iranian-Canadian organizations were held on Saturday in Toronto, Winnipeg, Halifax, Montreal and other communities across Canada. Amini’s death has become a symbol of oppression Iranian women have faced for decades. In Iran, thousands march in the streets and many women and girls continue to remove their headscarves in support of Amini. “This is so brave, and high school girls, other young girls in the street and how the other men and young boys support them, I'm so proud of them,” she said. The Iranian woman from the GTA was present during the previous 2009 protests, after the Iranian presidential election was plagued by irregularities and allegations of vote-rigging.3 months ago CTV News
So was Devin Booker's point total and the Phoenix Suns' lead. Thompson received two quick technicals and was ejected after having words with Booker, who also received a technical because of the exchange. At one point during the argument, Thompson held up four fingers to signify the four championships the Warriors have won over the past decade. "I love Klay Thompson, I have for a really long time," Booker said. Without Thompson, the defending NBA champs were never able to mount a rally and the Suns kept a comfortable lead throughout the fourth.3 months ago CTV News
“You can make [costumes] tonight, or this weekend, with simple craft supplies like shirts, felt, glue, scissors, and paper,” Crown said Friday. Halloween costumes have been in high demand this year. Another costume Crown made for herself, turns her into a walking spiderweb. And when it comes to DIY Halloween decor, that’s just as easy. I’ve just painted them black, cut out windows and doors, and cut out orange tissue,” she said.3 months ago CTV News
CALGARY -- Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton has signed an agreement to join Abuse-Free Sport, the new federal program to prevent and address maltreatment in sport in Canada. The announcement comes a week before the embattled national sport organization resumes its heated annual general meeting that was abruptly adjourned on Sept. 29. Numerous current and retired Canadian bobsled and skeleton athletes have been calling for the resignation of Sarah Storey, the president of the board and acting CEO of Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton (BCS), since March, decrying what they've called a toxic environment of maltreatment within the organization. Athletes have responded angrily about the scheduled conclusion of the AGM, saying the date and location hinder athletes' opportunities to participate. St-Onge has given national sport organizations until April of 2023 to become full signatories of OSIC, which began taking complaints on June 22.3 months ago CTV News

Those are some of the expenditures Red Bull claimed Friday it improperly misrepresented when submitting its 2021 financial report. To hear Horner's nearly 50-minute long defense of Red Bull's spending, the saga seems trite. He spent a great deal of time defending high-end catering services, and included a reference to Red Bull's sick pay policy. Red Bull has already wrapped up both a second F1 title with Verstappen and the constructors' championship with three races remaining this season. McLaren head Zak Brown had accused Red Bull of cheating by breaching the spending cap in a letter Brown sent to the FIA.3 months ago CTV News
It also once again thrust the Caribbean island into the middle of an escalating tug-of-war between its seaside neighbour, the United States, and ally, Russia. The sales also potentially alleviated the weight of international sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. Until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Soviets sold Cuba oil well below market price. Increased sales to China, India and even Cuba have helped Russia ease the economic brunt of sanctions. "So good news for Cuba, and good news for Russia that Cuba is in that situation."3 months ago CTV News
