Vernon Kay is a television and radio presenter, and former model. Kay presented his own BBC Radio 1 show between 2004 and 2012, and presented his own show on Radio X between 2015 and 2017. Ken Bruce will join Greatest Hits Radio later this year after it was announced he is leaving his mid-morning weekday slot on BBC Radio 2 after 31 years. However, I feel that after 45 years of full-time broadcasting on BBC Radio, it’s time for a change. He has been part of every significant occasion marked by BBC Radio 2 and we, his faithful audience and the Radio 2 all-star line-up, will miss his warm humour and wit.

Bitton a cautionary tale with Bristol club unable to cover travel costs and players left in dark

“It is always disappointing when a team has to withdraw from a league; and it is particularly sad given the history of Bitton Football Club,” he said. “Coupled with players’ wage demands, it has made life very difficult for clubs like Bitton to cope. When the National League System was reorganised, it left clubs in the Western League with additional costs, and there was no money set aside to compensate for this. Bitton are by no means the only Western League club to scale back their operations. I do feel for Bitton and their people and I hope they bounce back next season, wherever it may be.”

Princess Anne to pay respects after 11 children die in fire at school she was due to visit today

A fire ripped through a dormitory at the school in Uganda earlier this week, days before she was due to visit. She arrived on Tuesday and was due to visit the school, which is in a rural district just outside the capital, on Friday. Princess Anne issued a statement saying: "I was shocked to hear the news of the tragic loss of life. The Princess Royal will have an opportunity to pay her respects to those affected." He said: "We expect to get the first lady, the daughter of the late Queen, Princess Anne, and the husband.

A political row has erupted after councils in Stroud and Cheltenham try to scupper Gloucestershire’s bid to create investment zones across the county. Gloucestershire County Council had submitted bids to the Government to create two investment zones with the aim of driving growth and unlocking housing by lowering taxes and liberalising planning regulations to encourage rapid development. Stroud council leader Catherine Braun (G, Wotton-under-Edge) said: “We are very pleased to get confirmation that the investment zone proposal has been scuppered, despite the Conservative county council trying to force it through.
