Union Street currently has a LEZ in place which was introduced in May last year. "Air quality modelling undertaken by SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency) confirms that these measures should result in significant additional improvements. The worst street for NO2 was Hope Street in Glasgow at 39 micrograms per cubic metre, with Union Street recording 26 micrograms, making it the seventh worst street in the country. For fine particles, Atholl Street, Perth, was the dirtiest with 16 micrograms per cubic metre, while Aberdeen's Union Street recorded 13 micrograms and nearby King Street notching just below that with 12 micrograms.
