Alex Neil is continuing to trim his Stoke City squad and budget ahead of what should be a frantic final few days of the January transfer window. That would seemingly be if Neil recoups enough money from a sale to head into the market without worrying about breaching Financial Fair Play rules. Neil was watching Peterborough beat Port Vale on Monday night and the striker has already been linked with Sunderland. Joe Gelhardt, the Leeds United youngster tentatively linked with Stoke and about half of the Championship, is expected to rejoin boyhood club Wigan on loan.
