Six-year-old Alanna Quick is about to embark on a nearly 17 mile journey to raise funds for one of Hampshire's best loved charities. Alanna, who lives in Lee-on-the-Solent in Gosport, is walking 16.6 miles from her home to University Hospital Southampton (UHS), in a bid to raise vital funds for her favourite charity, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. The inspiration behind Alanna's charity-raising effort Captain Dave Nicholls commented: "When I meet people after we have landed, they often talk about how much they appreciate what the Air Ambulance team do. I always make sure to tell them that the Air Ambulance team is so much bigger than just the people who fly on the helicopter. Hampshire MPs voted to reject a Labour motion that would have guaranteed parliamentary time for a bill to ban fracking. Despite there being 357 Conservative MPs in Parliament, there were just 326 votes against Labour’s motion - suggesting 31 abstained. They were ordered by whips to vote down the anti-fracking motion, with anyone who defied instructions expected to lose the whip. She said: "The only reason I voted against the Labour motion is that I will not give them control of the order paper - and I will retain my say in who is Prime Minister." At least seven Just Stop Oil supporters from Hampshire were arrested in London last week. They are demanding that the Government commits to ending all new oil and gas projects in the UK. The supporters blocked roads in Knightsbridge in central London and disrupted traffic by sitting in the road with banners.
