Ukraine does not possess nuclear weapons, while Russia has said it could protect Russian territory with its nuclear arsenal. Ukraine shot down 14 Russian "kamikaze" drones over Mykolaiv overnight, regional governor Vitaliy Kim said on Telegram. Breaching it could flood a swathe of southern Ukraine, including Kherson. Neither side has produced evidence to back up their claims about the dam, which supplies water to Crimea and the Russian-held Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Moscow has acknowledged targeting energy infrastructure but denies targeting civilians in what Moscow calls a "special military operation" in Ukraine.
They rumbled against other biker gangs and gradually recruited Japanese members. "Due to their propensity for violence, Dragon members were scouted out by yakuza gangs, and in some cases they came to wear two hats," crime journalist Yukio Ishihara tells Asahi Geino. "Dragon was ideally positioned because its members understood Chinese, and were on familiar terms with the Japanese underworld. "I've heard that the men who were involved in the Sunshine City rumble have made up with each other," a city desk reporter remarks. A drawn-out battle between the shadowy quasi-gangsters and police has only just begun, the article pessimistically predicts.1 month ago Japan Today

France's Sipili Falatea charges to the line to score a try during the rugby union international between France and South Africa in Marseille, France, Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022. Tighthead prop Sipili Falatea burrowed over with minutes left and fullback Thomas Ramos landed a last-gasp penalty to give Les Tricolores a national record-extending 12th straight win. France had not beaten South Africa since 2009 and Galthie had never faced them since taking charge after the 2019 World Cup, won by the Springboks. After Dupont's red, the Springboks pack bullied France and freed winger Kurt-Lee Arendse in the right corner. More drama followed when hooker Deon Fourie was sin-binned with 10 minutes left and Mathieu Jalibert came on for Romain Ntamack.21 days ago Japan Today
By MARI YAMAGUCHIJapan’s cabinet approved Friday a hefty economic package including 29 trillion yen in government spending to counter the blow to household budgets from inflation, signaling that the greater concern of its policymakers is that the economy will stall, not overheat. While central banks around the world are raising interest rates aggressively to try to tame decades-high inflation, with its own inflation rate near 3%, Japan has stuck mainly to using fiscal measures, or government spending, to counter that challenge. The Federal Reserve has been aggressively raising borrowing costs to combat chronic inflation, raising interest rates five times this year. “The economic measures are designed to overcome rising prices and to achieve an economic recovery,” Kishida said in a news conference. “We will protect the people’s lives, jobs and businesses, and strengthen the economy for the future.”The 29 trillion yen spending package will be part of a supplementary budget that still must be approved by the parliament.1 month ago Japan Today
