It took an American to impose some perspective this week on the Canadian political debate about Roxham Road. Since Roxham Road is not an official crossing, it is effectively a "loophole" in the STCA. When politicians talk about "closing" Roxham Road, they likely imagine that the United States could be convinced to extend the STCA's prohibition to the entire land border — or at least to Roxham Road. This isn't just Canada's problemIt's at least fair to say that Roxham Road isn't a particularly unique situation. 'Extremely dangerous' Hurricane Roslyn threatens Mexico

Hurricane Roslyn was expected to deliver a treacherous storm surge to parts of Mexico Sunday after plowing over the Pacific as a powerful Category 4 storm just offshore from the resort of Puerto Vallarta. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said early Sunday that Roslyn had become "extremely dangerous" with maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometres an hour. The storm was forecast "to bring damaging winds, a life-threatening storm surge and flooding rains to portions of west-central Mexico today," the hurricane centre said at 12 a.m. Sunday. Russian warplane slams into residential building on its own soil — for 2nd time in a week

A Russian warplane slammed into a residential building in the Siberian city of Irkutsk on Sunday, killing both crew members, authorities said. The crashes might reflect the growing strain that the fighting in Ukraine has put on the Russian air force. Moncton told inclusionary zoning won't be affordable housing 'silver bullet'

It would allow the municipality to require new high-density residential developments to include some affordable housing. A staff report says the approach isn't the "silver bullet" fix to the affordable housing issue in Moncton." Josh Adams, a senior planner with the City of Moncton, says the study found inclusionary zoning may not be the solution the city had hoped would boost affordable housing. "As a result, inclusionary zoning policies may yield weak and/or negative results if they were to be implemented under the current context." "It is possible that under this current context, [inclusionary zoning] could potentially reduce the volume of market rental housing development."

Who is running for mayor in Cornwall

In preparation for the election, we prepared a questionnaire for all potential mayoral candidates in Cornwall to answer. The Town of Cornwall ridership numbers have increased greatly almost to the numbers prior to COVID-19 therefore that would suggest T3 is working in this town. With the growth that we are experiencing in Cornwall it has become evident that our recreation programming for our residents needs additional space and programming. Our town needs to have a community response team which has an effective way to inform residents of what is happening. As well the town needs its own fuel supply for its equipment, and additional equipment purchased such as as generators.
