Three ties went to extra time and penalties after nothing could separate Hamilton and Ross County (0-0), Partick Thistle and Dunfermline (1-1), as well as St Mirren versus Dundee (0-0). Partick succeeded in a nail biting 4-2 shootout victory while St Mirren put Dundee to the sword by firing in three spot kicks without reply to progress 3-0 at the SMISA Stadium. Dundee United were put under the ropes against Stirling University before finally breaking the deadlock just before half-time through Aziz Behich. Scotland will be the best place to view the partial solar eclipse that will grace skies across the UK next week as the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. In London, the eclipse will begin at 10:08am, with the maximum eclipse occurring at 11.13am, when the Moon will cover close to 15% of the Sun. But Lerwick in the Shetland Isles is expected to have a better view, with 28% of the Sun obscured at mid-eclipse. Man sparks debate after refusing to switch plane seat for mum and baby on 10-hour flight

The male boarded the 10-hour flight from Europe to Asia and was asked by the woman if he could switch seats with her husband in another row. That then sparked a tiff between passengers when he refused to move from his paid seat for a mum and her baby. "When we boarded, there was a woman holding a baby sitting in the middle seat. My wife agrees with me that her poor planning is not our problem and that we should have stayed out if there were no other first row seats." While another said: "You paid for extra leg room, and paid for that seat.
