Analysis: No offense but 2022 NFL is no league for old men

DENVER -- Defenses have finally figured out how to keep all those high-powered offenses from lighting up NFL scoreboards, and they're also showing that in 2022 this is no league for old men. Josh Allen, 26, also is on pace for 48 TDs, and Joe Burrow, 25, is on pace to throw for three dozen touchdowns. Lamar Jackson, 25, has 13 TD throws, three shy of last year's total, and he's fifth in the league with 510 rushing yards. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Jackson make up the league's new upper echelon of elite quarterbacks, supplanting the likes of Brady, Rodgers, Ryan and Wilson. But he has just eight through seven games this season, putting him on pace for 19.

Analysis: 3-point shooting leads to more NBA scoring binges

The NBA these past few weeks has featured an almost nightly display of one-upmanship among the game's greatest scorers. NBA teams were averaging 113.8 points per game entering Monday night, which if it continues would be the highest mark for the league since 1969-70. In that 1969-70 season, teams averaged 116.7 points, but only two players had a 50-point game. More teams means more games, so it makes sense that there are more examples of a player scoring 50. Antetokounmpo scored a career high 55 in the game.

Navy tries to salvage rough season with win against Army

PHILADELPHIA -- Navy spent most of coach Ken Niumatalolo's tenure anchored to the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy and always stuck it to Army on that last Saturday of games before bowl season. The CIC Trophy awarded to the winner of the three games played among Army, Navy and Air Force hasn't been docked in Annapolis since 2019. The annual rivalry game -- played Saturday for the 123rd time - once meant pure revelry for Navy. Now the Mids need a win to salvage a season that included losses against teams as varied as Delaware and Notre Dame. Navy has won two games this season without completing a pass are 8-1 under Niumatalolo when it doesn't throw.

Thom Bell, an architect of 1970s Philadelphia soul, dies

"An arranger told me 'Thom Bell, Black people don't listen to that.' Bell took them on in the early 1970s and helped create such hits as "I'll Be Around," "Ghetto Child" and "The Rubberband Man." Bell won a Grammy in 1975 for best producer, but within a few years, the Philadelphia sound had been overtaken by other trends. In the early 1970s, he met Creed, a Philadelphia-born Jew who as a teen fell in love with soul music and with Bell formed a rare interracial musical partnership. Of those that do, some have a minimum age restriction, and some have no minimum age. Should there be age restrictions on a minor getting a tattoo, even with a parent's permission?
