Released 10/02/2023Canberrans are embracing public transport with new data showing the best patronage numbers for the first week of school since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is nearly 75,000 more journeys for the same first week of the school year in 2022 where we recorded 159,602 passenger journeys on our public transport network, an increase of approximately 47 per cent. “Canberrans are regaining confidence and returning to public transport in 2023. “We are now actively encouraging people to return to public transport and to keep growing patronage in the years ahead. “I want to thank our community coming back onto public transport, adjusting to the new ‘disruption timetable’ and to those who are already making changes to their routines to help reduce pressure on our roads.
