Melbourne Cup Carnival swaps cult chicken sandwiches for foie gras burgers and croc monsieurs

Classic chicken sandwiches will no longer be a staple of the food and drink offering at the Melbourne Cup Carnival with punters set to snack on foie gras burgers and zucchini flowers instead. With Crown taking over the catering at the racing carnival, Peter Rowland's white bread mayonnaise-laden chicken sandwiches are being replaced. Joel Bickford of Shell House in Sydney will be cooking coal-roasted marron and a croc monsieur among other dishes in the Mumm pavilion. A spokeswoman for the VRC said Crown would include its own version of the chicken sandwich along with "many more delicious things". Peter Rowland's famous chicken sandwiches.
