Eddie Howe and his team have cup commitments this weekend at Wembley, meaning a two week gap between Premier League fixtures for NUFC, whilst most of the rest carry on. If winning tonight, Fulham would go behind NUFC on goal difference, though Newcastle with two games in hand. A draw would see Tottenham two points ahead of Eddie Howe’s side BUT Newcastle with two games in hand, which doesn’t sound too bad. That would see Newcastle ahead of Liverpool by between two and four points and with a game in hand.

NewsGarang Kuol in A-League defeat after return from international dutyThe 30th September 2022 saw Newcastle United announce a deal had been completed to sign Garang Kuol. In the meantime, the plan is for Garang Kuol to carry on playing for Central Coast Mariners in the A-League down under. Garang Kuol headed off to play qualifiers in Kuwait for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup, against Iraq, India and Kuwait between 14-18 October. However, Garang Kuol was named on the bench today (7am Sunday morning kick-off – UK time). When the A-League resumes, Central Coast Mariners only have five games in December before Garang Kuol would formally become a Newcastle United player when we get to January 2023.

Nothing came of that, with it claimed the Glazers had only offered a 20% stake to Saudi Arabia PIF / Saudi prospective investors, or indeed any others interested in investing. Back in 2019 the Glazers were not a willing seller of (the controlling interest in) Manchester United, when the Saudi Arabia PIF (or another Saudi Arabia investment model) were allegedly willing buyers. Hence Professor Simon Chadwick believing that it is not ‘inconceivable’ that Saudi Arabia PIF could sell Newcastle United, then buy Manchester United. Who knows what the truth is, what conversations are / aren’t going on inside the Saudi Arabia PIF?

Leeds United v Newcastle United spending on transfer fees not so long ago…In the final three transfer windows (summer 2020, January 2021, summer 2021) under Mike Ashley, Newcastle United spent around £60m on signings. In the same three windows, Leeds United spent around £165m (all figures via Transfermarkt).
