After wrapping up the drivers’ championship in Suzuka, Max Verstappen helped Red Bull Racing secure the constructors’ crown by winning the action-packed United States GP. Despite multiple Safety Car re-starts, it looked like Verstappen was set to take a comfortable win. However, that was put under threat as he suffered a slow final pit stop, bringing Hamilton and Leclerc into play. Verstappen passed Leclerc on Lap 39 and then set about closing the gap to Hamilton.

If you manage to ignore the slow gearbox, the Baleno has strong top-end performance that yearns to be explored. Back then, demand for new cars plummeted and the producers of crucial semiconductor processing chips turned their attentions to supplying the more lucrative consumer electronics market. With their output thus reduced, car makers by and large shifted focus to building and selling their most profitable cars, which naturally pushed prices up. All of which, ultimately, is how we arrive at today’s reality of a £100,000-plus electric version of the Volvo XC90. It still is, but the entry-level car costs £12,350.

Hyundai breaks ground at new EV and battery plant in the USHyundai Motor Group has officially announced the setting up of a US-only $5.54 billion (Rs 45,943 crore) plant to establish itself as a global top tier electric vehicle OEM. On October 25, the Korean carmaker held a ground-breaking ceremony for the new electric vehicle-only plant 'Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA)' in Bryan County, Georgia, USA. “Hyundai and the people of Georgia share many qualities: respect for our histories, ingenuity, creativity, and determination to make the world better for the next generation,” said Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung. HMGMA is also expected to become a key base for Hyundai Motor Group to target the US electric vehicle market. Hyundai Motor Group expects that EV sales in the US will grow more explosively when HMGMA starts full-fledged operation.

BMW expands Asia manufacturing footprint to Vietnam

The BMW Group has partnered with Truong Hai Auto Corp, which manufactures and retails cars and trucks for other global brands, to locally produce BMW vehicles in Vietnam. The BMW Group has partnered with Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) to locally produce BMW vehicles in Vietnam. “This is a major milestone for the BMW Group in Asia Pacific as we look to strengthen our geographic footprint in the region,” said Michael Nikolaides, Senior Vice-President, BMW Group Production Network, Supply Chain Management. These comprise of BMW Group plants as well as vehicle plants and a powertrain plant of its BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture in China. BMW Group Asia started operations in 1985 and is the regional office in Singapore overseeing 14 markets across East Asia for both BMW and Mini brands.
