News Operation IceBridge makes airborne altimetry measurements over the ice sheets and sea ice. A geometrical mass of ice was discovered by NASA’s IceBridge team when they flew above the Larsen C ice shelf in Antarctica. Sharing the pictures, NASA stated, “A picture of sea ice extending to the horizon, taken from a low-flying aircraft. Most of the ocean surface is covered in rough-looking white ice, thinner and thicker in some places, interspersed with sea ice icebergs. It provides a previously unattainable three-dimensional image of the sea ice, ice shelves, and ice sheets in the Arctic and Antarctic.
