Health experts have moved to reassure parents after a sixth child died of Strep A in the UK. Official data from the UKHSA shows that for every 100,000 cases of scarlet fever, 3.1 people will develop iGAS. The bacteria usually causes a mild infection producing sore throats or scarlet fever that can be easily treated with antibiotics. "Make sure you talk to a health professional if your child is showing signs of deteriorating after a bout of scarlet fever, a sore throat, or a respiratory infection." Tributes paid as Nottingham satirist John Bird dies aged 86

Tributes have been paid to Nottingham-born comedian John Bird - described as "one of the greatest satirists" - who has died at the age of 86. Bird became known for sketches performed alongside John Fortune and Rory Bremner in Channel 4's satirical show Bremner, Bird And Fortune. John Bird was, to the end, never pleased with himself, always feeling he should have done better, been less lazy, had a late period like Brahms, 'where everything was spare and abstract'. "The reality was that he and his friend and collaborator John Fortune, together with Peter Cook, were pillars of the anti-establishment." Bird, Bremner and Fortune also collaborated in BBC shows Now Something Else and The Rory Bremner Show and Channel 4 series Rory Bremner, Who Else?
