Netball Australia recently turned down a bid from a private equity company that offered a multi-million deal. Netball Australia instead signed its deal with Hancock. The company will still provide "short-term funding" for four months as Netball Australia searches for an "alternative sponsor".

It's always difficult to judge a World Cup venture in such a weak group, and Jamaica are about as feeble as a World Cup opponent can get. Some of the Jamaican squad are described as semi-professional, and the players helped fund the campaign which saw them qualify for the World Cup at the country's third attempt. He set up two other Kiwi tries from infield kicks. Improving Fiji could be dangerous opponents, and beat the Kiwis in the last World Cup.

Out of the drivers who completed the race, the only one Ricciardo beat was Nicholas Latifi. Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly underwent a medical examination over the weekend. Photo / APVladimir Putin’s relatives are concerned about his coughing fits, constant nausea and a lack of appetite, it is claimed. Today Putin reportedly had a face-to-face working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. Earlier at the meeting, Putin was told that the loss of the Su-30 plane - in which two test pilots were killed - was unlikely to have been sabotage. The channel does not specify which of Putin’s relatives are supposedly worried about his condition.

The schedule features a potpourri of kickoff times, to balance the needs of local markets and the demands of overseas broadcasters.

The World Blokart Championships got under way at the Sanson Domain on Friday. Former blokart world champion Santi Oliver Fontanent.

As the Transmission Gully protesters had the day before, organisers defended the impact on motorists of the rural revolt. Groundswell co-founder Bryce McKenzie told RNZ before the event the traffic disruption was "not intentional" and all he could say to anyone annoyed was sorry. Perhaps "extreme" protest acts are necessary to snap us out of our collective cognitive dissonance where we want climate action - but only if it does not inconvenience our way of life too much.
