The snaps show courageous members of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service accessing the building from the South St Davids Street side entrance. A spokesperson for them said: "The Scottish Ambulance Service is currently in attendance at a fire in the former Jenners building on Princes Street, Edinburgh, alongside The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland. Edinburgh shoppers were also warned to stay away from the city centre on Monday afternoon as emergency services continued to battle the fire at the old Jenners building. North and South St David Street, St Andrew Square, George Street at St Andrew Square, and Rose Street have been closed to traffic. A statement from Edinburgh police said: "South St David Street, Edinburgh, and a number of surrounding roads, have been closed to traffic and pedestrians following a building fire.

Marc Webley was cleared of two attempted murders after prosecutors withdrew the charges against him during his trial at the city's High Court on Wednesday. Judge Lord Fairley told Webley "I accordingly acquit you", adding: "You are free to leave the dock." Webley, then 19, along with co-accused James Tant, then 21, were sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow after pleading guilty to attempted murder. On both occasions, Webley was accused of threatening or abusive behaviour by making threats against the victim.

Hibs fell to another derby day defeat as VAR took centre stage at Tynecastle in a 3-0 defeat for the Leith side. Edinburgh graphics design graduate has worked in 78 countries as a digital nomad

An Edinburgh graphics design graduate has detailed what life is like for a digital nomad worker that has traded the traditional office space for a variety of locations around the world. Katie Macleod says that she has visited 78 different countries whilst managing to hold down a job as a freelance graphic designer. She has joined a growing group of online workers that have decided to travel whilst also carrying out their employee responsibilities. The digital nomad says that she would always prefer to stay in co-living spaces that were suited to working professionals like herself. A recent study conducted in America showed that US employees identifying as digital nomads had more than doubled since the pandemic began.

ScotRail warn of 'severe' disruption due to Network Rail staff strikes next month

ScotRail bosses have warned strikes set to start next month are likely to have a "severe" impact on the network. Phil Campbell, the head of customer operations at the nationalised rail firm, said: "While this dispute does not involve ScotRail staff, it will have an impact on our ability to provide services as the RMT planned action will involve Network Rail staff in Scotland. As part of the RMT strike, its members will not work overtime from from December 18 until January 2, meaning RMT members will be taking industrial action for four weeks. The strike includes crucial signalling staff, and previous strike action had left only skeleton services operating north of the border. "Working people across our class need a pay rise and we are determined to win that for our members in RMT," he said.

Scottish garage owner spends Christmas with his comrades in Ukraine trenches

Adam had a rare day off to celebrate Christmas but says that he was not able to spend it with loved ones back home. The garage owner has been involved in fighting on two major fronts and is understood to be staying on the front line until the war is over, the Daily Record reports. "We owe it to each other, to our families who have had to deal with the heartbreak of our decision to be involved in this war, to finish this and free Ukraine once and for all." Those who organised the event have described the group as "warriors from different countries, who are defending our state". The Foreign Office has warned Brits against travelling to Ukraine to fight.
