New Delhi, Jan 24 (KMS): The Indian government’s decision to block the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in the 2002 Gujarat pogrom on social media has come under fire from political leaders and activists. The decision to block the documentary is such a move by the government. The Indian government blocked the documentary titled “India: The Modi Question” on Twitter and YouTube by invoking emergency power given to it under the IT rules. “There is a scheme of the government of India called ‘Block in India’, like ‘Make in India’, ‘Startup India’. “In the age of VPN, how impactful are these bans under emergency clauses cited by the I&B Ministry to ban a BBC documentary?

OIC information ministers call for combating disinformation, Islamophobia

Islamabad, October 23 (KMS): The Information Ministers of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) emphasised the importance of cooperation among the member states in developing necessary mechanisms to fight disinformation and Islamophobia in all its manifestations. According to details, this was emphasized in Istanbul Declaration adopted by the 12th Session of the Islamic Conference of the Information Ministers of OIC held in Istanbul. The declaration also underlined the need for devising short, medium and long-term strategic processes in the total fight against disinformation. The conference took into consideration the Final Report of the 12th Islamic Conference of Information Ministers, which aimed to promote OIC Member States’ contributions and cooperation in the area of media and information, a press release of the OIC Secretariat said. The conference welcomed the progress towards the operationalization of the OIC Media Forum (OMF) and called upon media entities and institutions in the Member States to join the OMF.

A number of leaders, including lawmakers of the ruling BJP, have been accused of making hate speeches and some are even facing cases over their utterances. In his petition, Abdullah has also sought to invoke the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and other stringent provisions to curb hate crimes and hate speeches.

I was re-elected as the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Xi said and introduced the other six, two of them were from the previous committee. The other six are Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang and Li Xi. A notable official who was elevated to the Political Bureau is the Foreign Minister and State Councillor Wang Yi, 69, who was previously a Central Committee member.
