Another battle between Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed began to take shape Wednesday. "Patrick came up to say hello and I didn't really want him to," McIlroy said Wednesday. It's clear McIlroy is in no mood for reconciliation in Dubai. "So, McIlroy being upset about being served on Christmas Eve has absolutely nothing to do with Patrick Reed," the statement said. Reed said in Dubai it was "unfortunate" that McIlroy didn't shake his hand.

Conservative groups sympathetic to Trump's claims are prepared to challenge voters' registration status and recruit observers and workers for polling places. During the primaries, polling places were bedeviled by short staffing, ballot printing errors, aggressive poll watchers and even malware attacks. Election denial added to an already brewing crisis as predominantly older poll workers declined to work during the coronavirus pandemic. Poll watchers have been the traditional eyes and ears of the two major political parties, but a new crop who believe election conspiracy theories have signed up for duty. Americans place 1-2 in ice dance competition

Chock and Bates scored 202.80 points, while Hawayak and Baker finished with 202.07. They lamented a couple of bobbles during their rhythm dance Saturday, though it was still good enough to leave them in first place. Greenwood parks panel set to review applications for new parks director, job description

GREENWOOD -- The city Parks Commission is getting close in finding a new parks director after the person who held the seat since May 2019 quit earlier this month. The previous parks director, Tammy Briley, resigned from her position effective Oct. 7. Both added the stipulation that the director report to the commission and its chairman, as opposed to just the commission. "The way the bylaws are set up for the commission, the parks director does not report to the mayor," Goldstein said. Cinda Bell, parks commissioner, said the commission employs the parks director, not the mayor or City Council.

PHILADELPHIA -- The San Diego Padres are suddenly putting the hurt on the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship Series. The El Cajon, Calif., native grew up rooting for the Padres and former ace Jake Peavy. Biden receives updated covid vaccine

WASHINGTON -- President Joe Biden rolled up his sleeve and got his updated covid-19 booster shot Tuesday, as he urged millions of people to get boosted by Halloween, if possible, so they can gather safely with family and friends this holiday season. Over 20 million people, including nearly 1 in 5 older adults, have gotten the updated covid-19 booster, the White House said. "For most Americans, one covid shot each year will be all they need," Biden said at the White House. A member of the White House Medical Unit gave the shot to Biden in his left arm. Three respiratory viruses are currently circulating in the U.S: the flu, covid-19 and respiratory syncytial virus, said Dr. Ashish Jha, leader of the White House covid-19 response.
