Town came into this game yet to win away from home and yet to turn a deficit into a victory, but they were determined to overturn both shortcomings here and found a ninth-minute equaliser from an unlikely source. QPR immediately set about looking to retake the lead and looked to have Town on the ropes, but a set piece was once again their undoing as the visitors instead went ahead. It was largely one-way traffic from there, with QPR constantly getting on the ball and into good positions but finding themselves repeatedly unable to break down the Town defence inside the box.
