In 2022, she discovered an application to model in New York Fashion Week. She knew of one other Harvard model. Trekking from Harvard to New York Fashion Week is no easy feat, despite the excitement.

How Black thinkers wrestled with founding U.S. values amid slavery

The nation’s founders embraced republicanism, a political ideology rooted in classical Rome, with its emphasis on liberty, individual rights, civic virtue, and equality. But that history often overlooks the contributions to American republicanism of Black thinkers in the early 19th century. Delaney, for example, saw racial solidarity as a permanent state, Rogers said, and later endorsed the immigration of Black Americans back to Africa. The individuals and ideas he focuses on “are essentially the 19th-century version of Black Lives Matter” movement. He will work on Africana Philosophy, a project that looks at different figures in African American political thought.

Movie Review: 'Amsterdam'

“Amsterdam” sees Russell changing ever so slightly with the times. Despite the severity of the crimes the three friends uncover and the tense dread we feel knowing what real-life horrors fascism would eventually wreak upon the world, “Amsterdam” never loses its lighthearted atmosphere. By contrast, John David Washington (“Tenet”), as Harold, Bert’s best friend and Valerie’s lover, looks half-asleep for much of the movie, lagging behind his co-stars. In scene after scene, characters change the subject of conversation mid-thought, or make bold claims out of nowhere, or sometimes just pass out. It all adds up to a scattershot mess of a movie, though not entirely without its charms.

Harvard Business School Announces 2022-2023 Cohort of Executive Fellows

BOSTON—Harvard Business School (HBS) has announced the cohort of Executive Fellows for the 2022-23 academic year. All fellows, including alumni, partner with at least one HBS faculty member to bring their business experience into the HBS community. The fellows contribute to the School by working with faculty and MBA students on curricular and co-curricular activities. He’s also working with Fritz Foley on the delivery of the MBA elective curriculum course Corporate Finance: Corporate Financial Operations. He will also engage with students and other HBS faculty members on various projects related to digital transformation.

Today’s Supply-Chain Fluctuations Require Systemic Solutions

Today’s supply chains are in turmoil — much of which is caused by the responses of participants in the supply chain to wild swings in demand. The loads on supply chains surge, experience a period of lesser load, and then surge again because the supply chain are systems. Supply chain infrastructures did not have the capacities to manage the surge, and backlogs resulted in delays and shortages. The supply chain system will experience a decrease in the load on the ports, port terminals, and trucking and other elements of the supply chain. However, the supply chain system’s response will not simply be a decline of everything by 10%.

Harvard Clerical and Technical Workers Rally in Protest of Alleged ‘Anti-Union Tactics’ by University

Members of the Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers rallied outside Smith Campus Center Thursday in protest of what they allege are “anti-union tactics” by the University. More than 30 people — including Harvard students and other local union members — attended the rally. In a Thursday press release, HUCTW representatives advocated for a “fair” contract and alleged the University retaliated against two union members. HUCTW representative Geoff Carens said in the July interview that O’Brien was “scolded by her boss in front of her co-workers” for working as a union representative. At Thursday’s rally, Carens, the union representative, called on the University to offer higher wages.

Boston Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Fentanyl, Cocaine Delivered to Harvard Biology Lab

A Boston man was sentenced on Oct. 5 to 10 years in prison for conspiring to distribute fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine — some of which was delivered to a Harvard biology lab. In June 2019, a package containing one kilogram of fentanyl and one kilogram of cocaine was recovered by law enforcement from a biology lab on Harvard’s campus. The following August, Rojas asked Carrasco to retrieve another package, which contained almost one kilogram of heroin. Carrasco pleaded guilty on April 13 to one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine. In one of the letters, Michael Hoadley, Rojas’ longtime friend and former baseball teammate, praised Rojas for mentoring his son.
