Village Christian football dominates Heritage Christian in ‘Bible Bowl’

LAKE BALBOA — Led by four passing touchdowns from freshman quarterback Chase Everett, Village Christian defeated rival Heritage Christian 34-6 in the 37th edition of the ‘Bible Bowl’ at Birmingham Charter High Saturday night. “We’re here to play beyond the first 10 games, we got seniors that deserve this,” said Village Christian coach Richard Broussard. “Making the playoffs and beating our rivals is always a goal of ours, so we’re checking things off our list.”The ‘Bible Bowl’ was first played in 1988 between Los Angeles Baptist (now Heritage Christian) and Village Christian. The defensive effort from Village Christian (7-2, 3-1 Ironwood) was very strong allowing zero offensive points from Heritage Christian (6-3, 2-2), which only scored points off special teams. If Proposition 29, which would impose a variety of unnecessary regulations on the dialysis industry, sounds familiar, that is because it is the third such measure placed before California voters in five years. But the union does not care about patient welfare if it can score some additional members and union dues in the process. Dips in state and national school test scores in ‘The Nation’s Report Card’ show impact of pandemic

Nationally, the average math score fell five points for fourth graders and eight points among eighth graders. For example, despite a six-point drop in its eighth-grade NAEP math score, California’s decline was less than the eight-point average drop nationwide. That’s about 5 percentage points lower in English language arts and 4.5 percentage points lower in math than this year’s state average. In the Inland Empire, about 50 Corona-Norco Unified School District fourth graders took the NAEP assessments, though information about their performance was not available Monday, district spokesperson Brittany Foust said. In the Riverside Unified School District, it wasn’t clear Monday if students took the national test, but school board President Brent Lee acknowledged that some students fell behind during remote learning.
