The hosts were bottom of the Premier League at kick-off and, frankly, looked set to stay there all season. The data showed that Liverpool had created four big chances, and amassed 1.8 xG. One might see that Liverpool are more or less matching their xG and ask whether wastefulness is really a problem. In four of those games, they dropped points, even though they ‘beat’ Palace, Everton and Forest on xG. You would think that the Reds should look to Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Darwin Núñez who scored 86 between them last season.
