‘Beaver blood moon’ offers world’s last total lunar eclipse until 2025

Here are some key facts about the upcoming celestial display, unfolding in an exceedingly unusual concurrence with Election Day in the United States, and about lunar eclipses in general. Otherwise, the moon passes above or below Earth’s shadow because its orbit around Earth is usually tilted relative to Earth’s orbit about the sun. Tuesday’s event will mark the second blood moon this year, following one in mid-May. On the West Coast of the United States, the whole display will run from 12:01 am PST until just before 6 am, with the total eclipse phase lasting about 90 minutes, peaking at 3 am. When combined with the phenomena of a total lunar eclipse, it is widely referred to as a “Beaver blood moon” in the United States.

Should the Argentine move to Saudi Arabia, Thursday’s encounter between the sport’s two biggest stars of the modern era could signal the dawn of a new age in Asian football.

Article 4 states NATO members will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territory, political independence or security of any of them is threatened. How could the Ukraine war trigger Article 5? Since Ukraine is not part of NATO, Russia’s invasion in February did not trigger Article 5, though the United States and other member states rushed to provide military and diplomatic assistance to Kyiv. Article 5 has been activated once before – on behalf of the United States, in response to the September 11, 2001, hijacked-plane attacks on New York and Washington.

State broadcaster CCTV reported on Sunday that direct flights from South Korea to China were close to sold out. South Korea like many other countries now requires travellers from China, Macau and Hong Kong to provide negative COVID-19 test results before departure. Flight Master data showed that on Sunday, China had a total of 245 international flights, combining inbound and outbound, compared with 2,546 flights on the same day in 2019, representing a fall of 91%.

Bank of England hints rates near peak after 10th hike

The BoE’s interest rate setters voted 7-2 to push Bank Rate to 4% – its highest since 2008 – from 3.5%. “We’ve seen the first signs that inflation has turned the corner,” Governor Andrew Bailey told reporters after the rate hike. It said inflation would fall from above 10% now to below its 2% target in just over a year’s time. BoE Deputy Governor Ben Broadbent stressed to reporters that while Britain appeared to have turned a corner on inflation, that was not a comment about Bank Rate hitting its peak.
