Jose Matias Romero was named as the late replacement, but this is not your average last second replacement opponent. He is up against Former Undisputed UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, who in his prime was arguably the best striker in the history of MMA. Among them is booking matches without reason, which has drawn the ire of Eric Bischoff. ‘Easy E’ took issue with Khan scheduling matches for AEW programming that didn’t necessarily have long, drawn-out stories attached to them. Regarded as “cold matches”, they were also a staple of WCW programming in the mid-to-late nineties, as Tony Khan discussed when firing back at Eric Bischoff during an appearance on Busted Open Radio:“Frankly, I think the person who has been incendiary, contradictory, and hypocritical on this entire point is Eric Bischoff. Randy Savage vs. Bobby Eaton, okay,’ and various lucha matches that didn’t necessarily have build up but they were fun matches. I found it very ironic for Eric Bischoff to say, ‘Why is this match happening?’ Why did 60 percent of the matches on Nitro happen?5 months ago Inside The Ropes

CM Punk hasn’t wrestled since defeating Jon Moxley in the main event of All Out on September 4th. With victory Punk secured the AEW World Championship for a second time in front of his adoring hometown Chicago crowd. “It Looks Doubtful CM Punk Will Be Back” – Dave MeltzerWhile is Punk suspended he would be unable to wrestle regardless after undergoing surgery on a triceps injury. One hold up on the buy out is the non-complete, but that’s really a moot point because even with a six-month non-compete, Punk wouldn’t be ready to return until the non-compete is over. Both AEW and Punk didn’t comment, nor deny this.”In closing, Meltzer notes that the feeling towards CM Punk from many within AEW is negative due to his conduct in recent months.5 months ago Inside The Ropes
