The disgraced pop star was at the height of his fame in the glam rock era of the 1970s when he began preying on his vulnerable victims. He went on to be convicted of possessing child pornography before being jailed in the UK and abroad for vile sex attacks on underage girls. His breakthrough single Rock And Roll (Parts 1 And 2) reached number two in the UK charts and number one in America. But his most famous track – and first UK number one – was in the summer of 1973 with I’m The Leader Of The Gang (I Am). The death of glam rock also didn’t help with his public image and his popularity began to wane.
