Florida school district begins ‘cataloging’ books to comply with DeSantis-backed law

Ron DeSantis that requires the approval of books in classroom libraries. “Open up the classroom libraries while the process can be done,” she said. “This is us protecting the teachers, not saying we’re banning books,” School Board Chair Chad Choate III said. In Manatee County, the school district confirmed to CNN that it is in the process of “cataloging” books in classrooms to make sure it is in compliance with the law.

Mortgage rates expected to fall to 5.4% by late 2023, banking group projects

MBA is forecasting mortgage rates to end 2023 at around 5.4%. Ultimately, the Fed’s ongoing efforts to tame inflation will slow homebuyer demand for mortgages in 2023, according to the forecast. The slowdown in housing activity and higher mortgage rates will cut the pace of home price growth, according to MBA. But since more homeowners are staying put, unwilling to give up their ultra low mortgage rates, it means fewer starter homes are available.

Princeton University student Misrach Ewunetie’s cause of death could take weeks to determine, official says

By Kiely Westhoff and Jason Hanna, CNNA ruling on the cause and manner of death of a Princeton University student may take weeks, a county prosecutor’s spokesperson said Friday, after her body was discovered near campus tennis courts following a dayslong search. There were no signs of injury, and the death didn’t immediately appear to be suspicious, the prosecutor’s office said Thursday. Terrace Club student leaders told the paper Ewunetie was on “duty” doing housekeeping work during a live music performance at the club. “We are planning an opportunity for students to join together and remember Misrach,” the school said. Misrach Ewunetie was a graduate of the Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland said.

It has all the elements of a supercar — power, prestige, and price — but with extra-large servings of each. Electric power promises more acceleration and power without tailpipe emissions and, for better or worse, without the cacophony of a V12. But Lamborghini’s current CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, has said that a proper electric supercar isn’t possible with today’s technology. The Pininfarina Battista puts his skepticism to the test, but, I fear, Winkelmann may just be right.
