As the current president of the Rotary Club of Port Arthur, on Tuesday the Thanksgiving Project Committee met to learn we were facing new obstacles. And to take an extra step, we made sure to submit an application to the Season of Giving grants powered by Port Arthur LNG. Last year during the inaugural Season of Giving grants, the panel awarded grant money to the Rotary Club of Port Arthur. NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The majority of the New Hanover County Board of Education voted to send a contentious amendment on transgender sports participation back to the policy committee. (High school students’ participation is based on assigned sex, or gain approval from the North Carolina High School Athletic Association). Sports participation for transgender students is a nationwide topic and part of a larger discourse on the rights of LGBTQ+ minors. The latter two cited concerns over violating Title IX and stripping protections for transgender students.

That’s when administrators plan to redirect fifth graders out of the middle schools and unveil campus upgrades across the district’s four elementary schools. Elementary upgrades include additional classrooms for music, science labs and individualized learning spaces, restroom renovations, ADA modifications, expanded gyms, cafeterias and kitchens, improved drop-off/pick-up and parking and other enhancements. You don’t very often get to work with districts that save buildings like that.”More updates:• Upgrades to Central Middle School and C.O.
