A bitter dispute between the Canadian women’s national soccer team and Canada Soccer, the sport’s governing body, is ongoing with the women’s World Cup just five months away. Both the men and women’s national teams have had complaints against Canada Soccer over the years, mainly centred around the organization’s funding distribution and program management. After the men’s team went on strike in a standoff with Canada Soccer before last year’s World Cup, it’s now the women’s team who find themselves fighting for fair treatment. The England women’s national soccer team, who are hosting the Arnold Clark Cup, did the same in their match against Italy. “That agreement, once concluded, will be a historic deal that will deliver real change and pay equity in Canada Soccer.
