It has been confirmed by Exeter City Council that there are still no plans to rename Exeter's Blackboy Road, despite a council in London with the same name in its borough doing so. Read more: Exeter Quay could get 'new high-quality' homesIt is claimed that Blackboy Road in Exeter was named after King Charles II. It reads, 'La Rose Lane (formerly Black Boy Lane)'. In 2021, Exeter City Council confirmed it would not be relocating the statue of General Redvers Buller on the junction of Hele Road and New North Road. Regarding the remaining of Blackboy Road, a spokesperson for Exeter City Council said: "There are no plans to rename Blackboy Road that we are aware of."

Viewers watched Mr Short and Kevin McCloud return to the home, which he once described as a "carcass" and as being like a wreckage on the seashore.

A much-loved Devon pub has announced it's closing for good because the economic crisis, rising costs of everything and "archaic business rates system" have made it too difficult to trade. The pub bosses have blamed the ongoing cost of living crisis, VAT, local planning authorities and what they see as an antiquated business rates system for the downfall. The culmination of an archaic business rates system, decreasing footfall, higher energy costs, food inflation, reimplantation of 20% vat and an inefficient local planning authority means that it makes no sense to trade at a horrendous loss over the winter. The team worked tirelessly over the last year to make the business work and I remain in awe at their loyalty, hard work and devotion. The team at the pub have all worked so hard.

Caroline and Michael first appeared on our screens when they starred in 'Escape to the Country' in 2020, hoping to make the move from Reading, Berkshire, to the idyllic Devon countryside. Upon watching the original programme, it seemed overwhelmingly obvious that the Chawleigh mystery house - a Grade II* listed old rectory - would become the family's forever home. The Chawleigh property boasted a gorgeously refined galleried living space, a large kitchen, a library/office space, and a whopping four staircases which led the way to five bedrooms and two family bathrooms. Two years on, Sonali decided to pay Caroline and Michael a visit in their new home - but it gave us quite the shock when she greeted the couple in Wales. According to Michael, the couple stumbled upon their now "forever home" by accident, as Michael forgot to change the search radius on a property website.

Pilgrims win enthralling Devon Derby

Plymouth Argyle made it nine home wins in a row as they twice came from behind to win an enthralling Devon Derby. The lead only lasted five minutes though as Bali Mumba blasted home a wonderstrike from 30 yards to make it 2-2. The win stretched Argyle’s lead at the top of League One to four points. Pierce Sweeney again captained the side, one of only two survivors in the starting eleven for the Grecians from the previous Derby, the 4-0 win back in 2019. But on 25 minutes, City took the lead, and it was from a perfect counter-attack.

Exeter City wanting 'a real cup run' this year but face another away draw

City booked their spot in the second round of the FA Cup for the fourth season running with a 3-2 win away to Port Vale on Saturday. Two goals from Jevani Brown and an 89 th minute winner from Archie Collins gave Gary Caldwell his first win in charge of City. The Grecians will face another away trip in the second round of the competition. Monday night’s draw saw them picked out away to either National League side Woking or League One outfit Oxford United, with that fixture postponed at the weekend due to a waterlogged pitch. But two minutes later, Archie Collins curled home a spectacular winner to send City into the second round for the fourth year in succession.
