Since ESPN won back the NHL rights two years ago, it has carried the All-Star Game and Stanley Cup finals on ABC. That changes Saturday night when ABC has the Stadium Series contest between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Panthers from Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina. ABC's package of Saturday games airs typically in the afternoon, but hockey gets the prime-time slot with the NBA on its All-Star break. Ferraro, like most analysts, prefers being at ice level because it is easier to see and break down the game. McDonough has credited Ferraro and Kaplan for helping to navigate arenas and getting to know coaches and players.
Ron DeSantis refused to commit to serving a full four-year term if reelected when pressed by his Democratic rival, Charlie Crist, at their only gubernatorial debate on Monday. DeSantis skirted several attempts by Crist to get him to say he'd serve a full second term. Later, Crist slapped back, “You won’t even say if you want to be the governor of Florida after this election." The Republican governor specifically defended his record to bar transgender girls from competing on public school teams intended for student athletes identified as girls at birth. “Charlie Crist has voted with Joe Biden 100% of the time,” DeSantis said, referring to the "Crist-Biden agenda."5 months ago ABC Action News
WASHINGTON — Caring for sick children has become extra stressful recently for many U.S. parents due to shortages of Children’s Tylenol and other medicines. They also say parents have alternatives if they encounter empty store shelves. “There are more sick kids at this time of year than we have seen in the past couple years,” said Dr. Shannon Dillon, a pediatrician at Riley Children’s Health in Indianapolis. Walgreens is limiting customers online to six purchases of children’s over-the-counter fever reducing products. Doctors say parents or caregivers should not try this on their own, because determining proper doses for children can be tricky.3 months ago ABC Action News

NORTH PORT, Fla. — Already dealing with repairs and damage from Hurricane Ian, one North Port family said a letter from FEMA is adding another layer of stress. Johnson said she wants others waiting on a FEMA check to be aware that the money they’re counting on may never arrive. She spent much of her time on the phone with FEMA, trying to get some assistance. She said she received two denial letters before getting an acceptance letter promising $700 from FEMA's Critical Needs Assistance. For anyone waiting on assistance, FEMA suggested regularly calling or checking on your status to make sure they have all of the information they need.5 months ago ABC Action News
Five hours or less of sleep could put you at risk for chronic illness and that risk goes up as you age. A recent UK study looked at 8,000 50-year old civil servants with no chronic disease, and then followed up with them at their doctors' appointments over the next 25 years. It rose to a 32% greater risk at age 60, and a 40% greater risk at age 70. The chronic illnesses mentioned specifically were diabetes, cancer, heart disease, stroke, heart failure, COPD, chronic kidney disease, liver disease, depression, dementia, mental disorders, Parkinson's and arthritis. More risk of developing a some type of medical disorder as you age compared to someone who's getting seven to eight hours of sleep," said Rowley.5 months ago ABC Action News
The Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday finalized a rule change that broadens availability of abortion pills to many more pharmacies, including large chains and mail-order companies. Still, the rule change's impact has been blunted by numerous state laws limiting abortion broadly and the pills specifically. Legal experts foresee years of court battles over access to the pills, as abortion-rights proponents bring test cases to challenge state restrictions. Two drugmakers that make brand-name and generic versions of abortion pills requested the latest FDA label update. The FDA in 2000 approved mifepristone to terminate pregnancies of up to 10 weeks, when used with a second drug, misoprostol.2 months ago ABC Action News
TAMPA, Fla. — Historically, older voters like baby boomers and the silent generation consistently vote in general and midterm elections. "I don't know that I have the same concerns as a lot of other people. I don't think that's a coincidence, or they just changed their mind. And I don't know if it's just like you said, people just feel like their votes don't count. We have 21 days of early voting, (vote by) mail, and voting on Election Day; you drive down the road, you see the signs, you didn't realize it was voting day?"5 months ago ABC Action News
