Dublin band Wild Youth in running to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2023

Sign up to our FREE emailDublin band 'Wild Youth' have been announced as a possible candidate to represent Ireland at this years Eurovision. The band said: "Eurovision is something we have always loved and we would love to represent our country." Their song 'We are one' was written with Grammy nominated songwriter Jörgen Elofsson and the band say they "hope that everyone loves the song that we’ve written and believe we can be the band to represent Ireland this year." The four other acts that are in the running to represent Ireland at the 67th Eurovision contest are ADGY, Leila Jane, K Muni & ND (Kofi Appiah and Nevlonne Dampare) and Jennifer Connolly. Leila Jane is a singer based in Dublin and was once described as "one to watch" by Late Date presenter Cathal Murray.

Last week, Dublin Live ran a poll on our website asking commuters if they feel safe on the city's public transport system. Another commuter said he does feel safe on Dublin's public transport: "I do feel safe. I come in from Drogheda and I use public transport the whole way out to Tallaght and James' regularly. He explained: : "I do feel safe on the Luas and public transport in Dublin, specifically only in the mornings and evenings. But yeah, I do feel safe."

Callers can request a call back if unable to speak directly with staff at the time of their call.”While a spokesperson for the Mater Hospital said: “The Mater Hospital is continuing its appeal to the public, where possible, to avoid the Mater’s emergency department. Almost 3,500 children among record homeless figure of 11,542

Figures from the Department of Housing reveal 3,494 of them are children. The majority of these children – more than 2,500 – are growing up in emergency accommodation in Dublin. Compared to the report for October, it shows there are 131 additional homeless adults and 14 children. Most of them find shelter in Private Emergency Accommodation, which includes hotels, B&Bs and other residentials, as well as Supported Temporary Accommodation, which includes family hubs, hostels, with onsite professional support.

Serious warning from gardai over 'money mules' targeting bank accounts

According to gardai, money mules face a prison sentence of up to 14 years, as well as a criminal conviction with a lifetime criminal record. The person may also be extradited to the country where the crime occurred, and may not be permitted to open another bank account. "There can also be advertisements for jobs on online platforms offering seemingly easy or quick money that are in fact a recruitment front for money mules." Earlier this month, gardai confirmed that over 830 money mules had been identified in Ireland in the past number of years. If an account has already been compromised, the account holder should contact their bank and An Garda Síochána.
