Veedu is the newest restaurant in Midland offering Indian cuisine. The restaurant offers a mix of authentic Indian cuisine, along with Indian fusion. I chose Veedu Nargisi Kofta, a dish with boiled eggs sealed in a mince of chicken and lamb nestled in a bed of rice and curry. She loves spicy food though, so she was happy with it. If you never tried Indian food before, this is a good place to start.

Lieutenant Cook served as a co-chair of the regional traffic safety network during which time he won three traffic safety awards from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission (GTSAC).

When Arizona’s attorney general investigated claims that 282 dead people’s ballots were cast in 2020, he found just one case was substantiated. When Republican lawmakers in Michigan investigated a list of over 200 supposedly dead voters in Wayne County, they found just two. “It happens a lot.”There are occasional instances of voter fraud by impersonating a dead person.

Midland Mall owes more than $500,000 in delinquent property taxes

A delinquent property tax notice obtained by the Daily News from the county treasurer's office on Wednesday shows that Kohan owes $551,824.97 in 2021 property taxes. Kohan, of Great Neck, New York, has owned the 471,000-square-foot Midland Mall since June of 2018. When asked for comment about the unpaid taxes, Midland Mall General Manager Angela Browning deferred that question to Kohan Retail Investment Group owner Mike Kohan. Asked about the long-term future of the Midland Mall, Browning said her intent is to fill every available space.

Haqqani: Sleep deprivation, the immune system and exercise

Sleep loss has been identified as detrimental to the body’s immune system for quite some time. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) reported new research on Sept. 21 that revealed new information on the correlation between sleep loss, a weakened immune system and higher inflammation rates. For those under age 18, recommended hours of sleep vary frequently as children move from birth to adolescence. Sleep loss may also lead to hypertension, heart attack and stroke. CDC also reports that sleep loss increases the probability of infection.

Chemics vs. Chargers: reflecting on Midland's biggest sports rivalry

With many students coming and going through the high schools, the Daily News spoke with alumni around the city about their rivalry game memories. Vanessa SedrowskiA 2002 Dow graduate, she recalls the Dow vs. Midland game being the most anticipated one of the school year. Sedrowski participated in the Dow vs. Midland powderpuff game in 2001, in which Dow beat Midland High. As a student, she would have not been caught dead rooting for Midland High football. She recalled students pulling shenanigans and pranks against the other high school, like teepeeing Midland High households with toilet paper.
