Dickie DaviesTV presenter Dickie Davies, who was the face of ITV sports coverage for more than two decades, has died. The show, a mix of live sport including racing, wrestling and football results, competed with the BBC's Grandstand. Rest in peace Dickie Davies. His most unlikely claim to fame came when the indie band Half Man Half Biscuit paid their own tribute to him in the 1986 song Dickie Davies Eyes. He later returned intermittently to the screen for a number of specials, including ITV's 50-year World of Sport anniversary in 2005, as well as some shows for Sky Sports.

Liz Truss resigning as U.K. prime minister

Children’s hospitals, overflowing with respiratory patients, consider calling National Guard

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Some children’s hospitals around the country are being overwhelmed with patients suffering from respiratory illnesses. For the last few weeks, Connecticut Children’s Hospital in Hartford has been over capacity as more and more young children have been admitted for RSV. All of those were full this morning.”At Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, RSV cases in the emergency department nearly doubled in the last week, going from 57 to 106. With the Connecticut Children’s Hospital already at its max capacity, Salazar also worried influenza could put them over the edge. He expected flu cases would increase significantly in the coming weeks and over the holidays.

Oct. 21—Leading up to the Nov. 8 general election, The Frederick News-Post is doing podcast interviews with candidates for Frederick County executive and council. 1 priority if voters reelect him to the council would be pushing for the county to lower its property tax rate. During each of his four years on the council, Dacey has voted for the county to lower its property tax rate of $1.06 per $100 of assessed value to the constant-yield property tax rate. The constant-yield rate is the real property tax rate necessary to generate the same revenue from year to year. Adopting this rate would have decreased county tax revenue by $13 million for the last fiscal year.
