ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Adversity finally caught up to the Buffalo Bills, who were left depleted and defeated while closing an emotionally draining season two wins short of their Super Bowl aspirations. Unable to draw on the motivational inspiration of injured teammate Von Miller displaying the Super Bowl trophy he won last year in the locker room this week or injured safety Damar Hamlin’s surprise appearance at the stadium Sunday, the Bills delivered a dud in a 27-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in a divisional playoff game. “Regardless of the struggles or not, we wanted to see this through the end,” left tackle Dion Dawkins said. Despite matching a single-season record with 13 wins, the Bills’ playoff run ended in the divisional round for a second straight year. “We put it all on the line out there and tonight it wasn’t good enough.”___AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl and https://twitter.com/AP_NFLCopyright © 2023 .

During her trial, Fincanci rejected accusations that she engaged in propaganda during the interview, arguing that she gave a professional opinion. In her final trial statements, Fincanci said the association was the actual target of the investigation, according to the Dokuz8haber website, which monitored the trial. Ahead of the hearing, Dr. Ole Johan Bakke of the Standing Committee of European Doctors, said the group was “deeply concerned about the continuous harassment of the Turkish Medical Association from the Turkish government and authorities.”The World Medical Association has described the case against Fincanci as “unfounded, unlawful and unacceptable” and had called for her immediate acquittal.17 days ago Federal News Network
“Germany needs better rules for the naturalization of all these great women and men,” Scholz said. The overhaul of citizenship rules is one of a series of modernizing reforms that the three-party coalition of Scholz’s center-left Social Democrats, the environmentalist Greens and the pro-business Free Democrats agreed to tackle when it took office last December. In principle, most people from countries other than European Union members and Switzerland currently have to give up their previous nationality when they gain German citizenship, though there are some exemptions. “Selling off German citizenship cheap doesn’t encourage integration — it aims for exactly the opposite and will trigger additional ‘pull effects’ for illegal migration,” senior conservative lawmaker Alexander Dobrindt told Saturday’s edition of the Bild daily. “Five years is a very, very short time” for people to be eligible for citizenship, Union chief whip Thorsten Frei told ZDF television.2 months ago Federal News Network
Against enormous odds, Ukraine has now received the remains of dozens of prisoners who were held at the prison in Olenivka. But with experts still needing months to identify all the bodies — and no guarantee Kisilishin is among them — Skliar’s quest is far from over. “When I saw the photo, my eyes did not go beyond Oleksii’s body,” Skliar told The Associated Press. Authorities at the prison and Russian officials have said 53 Ukrainian POWs died in the blasts and another 75 were wounded. The Russian Defense Ministry did not respond to a request for comment on Ukrainian allegations of what happened in Olenivka.3 months ago Federal News Network

Now that the Senate will remain in Democratic control, President Joe Biden’s nominee for IRS Commissioner will likely receive confirmation. SEATTLE (AP) — The Washington Supreme Court has declined to reconsider an opinion that upheld a Black man’s virtual life sentence for shootings he committed at age 17, despite criticism that the ruling betrayed racial bias. But such motions are legal long shots, and the court denied it Monday without explanation. That ruling came in the case of Brian Bassett, a white man who killed his parents and brother when he was 16. In September, the court struck down a 46-year sentence for Timothy Haag, a white man who was 17 when he drowned his 7-year-old neighbor. The dissenting justices said it was nonsensical that the court would find a 46-year sentence for a white 17-year-old to be an unconstitutional “de facto” life sentence, while upholding a 61-year sentence for a Black 17-year-old.2 months ago Federal News Network
