The Team Mexico skipper now plays for Italian minnows Salrtnitana. The diminutive midfielder was among the final cuts from Team Mexico before the World Cup and that decision was taken because the Club América product was getting very little playing time. Back home in Mexico, América and Tigres expressed interest but his wage demands are outsized considering his form. Two other Team Mexico players are also hearing from European clubs. Another Team Mexico regular who thought he was going to join Pineda in the Greek Super League was winger Uriel Antuna.

Erling Haaland scored the opening goal for City in the 24th minute, but Everton equalized through Demarai Gray in the 64th minute. Everton scored a wonderful equalizer in the second half to frustrate Manchester CityEverton continued to launch occasional counter-attacks in the second half as well and got their goal through one of them. Gray ran well into the Manchester City half as their defenders tried to mark Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who was already inside the box.

Sweden cashes in on mistakes, beats El Tri 2-1

El Tri forward Raúl Jiménez (left) saw his first game action since Aug. 31. Early in the second half, El Tri captain Guardado got careless with the ball as he carried it out of Mexico’s defensive third. It seems clear that El Tri would be better served by a more seasoned attacker on the front line. El Tri would have been better served with the young legs of Santiago Giménez. Still, there is no doubt that “Memo” will be between the pipes for El Tri.

Champions League Matchday 6: Last four spots up for grabs

Last round of Champions League group stage play before round of 16 drawAfter five rounds of Champions League group stage football, 12 teams have booked their spot in the last 16 while two will drop to the Europa League knockout playoffs in February. With four more Champions League knockout places still to be confirmed, plus six Europa League spots, here is the preview of what is on the line. As for third place, Bayer Leverkusen is a point behind Atlético for the Europa League spot. The French side owns the head-to-head so if they finish level on points, Marseille would end up in the Europa League. That leaves the Israelis needing to outdo the Bianconeri on Wednesday in order to steal third place and partake in the Europa League knockout playoffs.

Against Real Madrid, Xavi tweaked the system a little with Ronald Araújo deployed on the right to try and contain Vinicius Jr. There was a passage of play where they passed the ball around for fun, not allowing Real Madrid even a whiff of the ball. “This title, won against Real Madrid, will give us peace of mind,” Xavi said.

3 things that stood out in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League

United started with Casemiro as the defensive midfielder and Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes as the two central midfielders. Towards the latter stages of the first half, Chelsea replaced Cucurella with Matteo Kovacic and switched to a back-four. That left United without a genuine wide man on the left until Anthony Elanga was introduced towards the latter stages of the match. He also replaced Sterling with Armando Broja, who played his part in Chelsea’s goal. United replaced Rashford and Eriksen with Elanga and Scott McTominay, respectively, during the last quarter of the match.
