Somerset comedian Bill Bailey has shared how walking with friends has helped him 'open up' about difficult subjects. Inside the comedian's house he has a framed pencil drawing of the marbled white butterfly. Inside of the comic's shed, which has a recording studio, there was a pad of white paper, on which Bailey had written “Marbled White” dozens of times and next to it was a framed pencil drawing of the marbled white butterfly. I told him it was a marbled white. They never say ‘know my own self’ or ‘talk to your friends about difficult things’.

Wellington residents lay out their priorities for the future of their town

Finn Russell explains why he has signed for Bath Rugby over Racing 92

Scotland and British & Irish Lion international Finn Russell has put pen to paper on a deal to join Bath Rugby from Top 14 giants Racing 92, the club have officially confirmed today. The 30-year-old will link up with the Blue, Black and White following the 2023 Rugby World Cup after a stellar four seasons at Racing 92. Explaining his thinking behind picking Bath over taking the renewal offer on the table at Racing, Russell said: “To be able to join such a historic, well-supported club is really exciting. “I’ve enjoyed my time at Racing 92 and I’ve learned a lot. “To be able to attract players of Finn’s quality to Bath Rugby is a credit to how far we have come as a club and a group since 11 July.

Cost of living crisis in Somerset: Pubs, clubs and scout halls to offer 'warm rooms' this winter

Local businesses and groups opening their doors this winter comes at the same time as North Somerset Council, working with the North Somerset Together Network, is setting up a network of ‘public living rooms’ across the district to help people stay warm as temperatures plummet. North Somerset Council deputy leader and chair of North Somerset’s cost of living working group Councillor Mike Bell said: “We are a council that cares about people and addressing the cost of living crisis is the top priority for every member of the council’s executive. The grants are funded by North Somerset Council, supported by Alliance Homes. Applications will be accepted from North Somerset agencies and community-led organisations delivering services for people in North Somerset. The North Somerset Together Network will promote the directory of public living rooms as soon as they begin to be established with the hope that more venues will become available as news of the initiative spreads across North Somerset.

Will Butt scores sensational late try to see Bath Rugby beat Leicester Tigers

First-half tries from Nemani Nadolo and James Cronin gave Leicester a half-time lead of 15-8 with Ted Hill scoring for the hosts. Once there, Bath showed heroic defence from the likes of Lawrence to keep the Tigers from crossing for their second try after just 15 minutes. Parents pay tribute to Bridgwater teen 'legend' killed by remorseless driver

The family of a teenager who was killed in a three-car collision in Bridgwater have paid tribute to their daughter. Bethany Branson died following the incident in November last year, for which Luke Hawkes was sentenced to 10 years in jail for dangerous driving today (January 27). Bethany's parents, Amy and Ben Branson, stated: "Today (Friday 28 January), the criminal aspect of this devastating event has reached its conclusion." "Bethany was kind, caring, big-hearted, determined, spirited, hilarious, compassionate and quietly would go about the world making it a better place." Bethany was a keen rugby player and active member of the Women's team at Bridgwater & Albion RFC.

£16m Northgate Yard 'leisure' complex opens in Bridgwater

Bridgwater's new multi-million-pound leisure complex in the town centre will start welcoming paying punters later this week following the official opening ceremony. Sedgemoor District Council committed £16m to the Northgate Yard regeneration, delivering a new cinema, bowling alley and restaurants in Bridgwater town centre as well as improving the nearby Brewery Field. He said: "I cannot tell you how absolutely proud I am to welcome you here today to open Northgate Yard. The Northgate Yard site forms part of the Celebration Mile, which runs from Northgate Docks into the town centre, along Eastover and finishing at Bridgwater railway station. Mr McGinty said the Northgate Yard project was a key part in helping to deliver the route, and in doing so encourage active travel throughout the town centre.
