Bid to Screen BBC Documentary at DU Aimed at ‘Creating Chaos’, Won’t Allow Indiscipline: VC

Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh has said the attempt by some student organizations to screen a controversial BBC documentary was aimed at creating “anarchy” in the university and added that indiscipline will not be tolerated on the campus. According to the vice-chancellor, despite several initiatives to fill all 70,000 seats in the university, around 5,000 seats remained vacant last year. Singh said the matter has been resolved and from this year the college will take admission through CUET only. Singh announced that admissions to all colleges of DU will be conducted through CUET only and no interview will be conducted. Singh reiterated that despite UGC norms, DU will continue to award honors degrees to students who opt for the three-year course.

Foreign Minister Cohen lands in Turkey to show solidarity, meet with Erdogan

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen landed in Turkey on Tuesday morning for a one-day solidarity visit in the wake of the deadly earthquake, the ministry announced. Israel’s top diplomat will also meet his counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu during the visit and visit Israel’s field hospital set up in the country. Upon landing, Cohen said he would express “the condolences of the people of Israel” to Erdogan and Cavusoglu.
