A general ground worker strike at Berlin’s infamous BER airport has been advised by the trade union ver.di for Wednesday (January 25, 2023), resulting in the cancellation of all flights. The strike affects operations for both incoming and outgoing flights at Berlin Brandenburg BER Airport. The Airport advises on its website:Due to the announced warning strike at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, no passenger flights will be possible on Wednesday, 25 January 2023. Lufthansa’s Notice:Due to a strike by the trade union ver.di, Berlin Airport is expected to be closed all day on 25 January. In the event of a cancellation of a domestic Lufthansa flight or a Lufthansa flight between Germany and Basel or Salzburg within two days before departure, you can exchange your flight ticket into a ticket with Deutsche Bahn free of charge.

First, I contacted Delta Airlines’ Press Liasion and asked them about this, and they then involved someone from ITA and SkyTeam as well. Here is the information that we’ve got from ITA and SkyTeam’s own Loyalty team regarding the Volare program. Recognition of SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus by ITA Airways started in December 2021. Recognition of Volare Elite and Elite Plus by SkyTeam members will be progressively rolled out starting Q2 2022 Reciprocal earn and burn/redemption with ITA will be progressively launched starting H2 of this year. It would have probably been wise to shelve the joining date until all agreements between carriers have been signed and their SkyTeam membership is actually recognized.
