Viewers were left stunned following Ariana DeBose‘s opening perfomance at the 76th EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday night. AdvertisementRacing to Twitter fans brandished the performance ‘painful’ and ‘awkward’ with one asking: ‘Why did this happen?’. Another said: ‘Got a lot of time for the celebs who smiled charmingly and awkwardly during Ariana DeBose’s painful BAFTA rap’. Austin Butler was awarded Best Actor at the awards, beating out favourite Colin Farrell in a shock upset. The actor, who went on to win the coveted best actor Oscar moments later, was later banned from all Academy events for the next 10 years and resigned from the organisation.

After the Senate passed the “omnibus” spending bill Thursday night by a bipartisan 68-29 margin, the House passed the bill on Friday along far more partisan lines, 225-20. The 4,155-page bill is a sweeping measure that provides $772.5 billion for domestic priorities and $858 billion for defense. Not only did Democrats finish off their unified control of Congress with a spending bill chock full of their wishlist items, they also were able to pass some major legislative accomplishments during Biden’s first two years in Congress. Democrats passed and signed into law a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, a $433 billion bill tackling climate change and lowering the cost of prescription drugs, a $1.9 trillion COVID-relief bill, the most significant gun safety reform bill in nearly 30 years, an overhaul of the U.S.

A video shows drivers mounting the pavement outside homes in a bid to skip road closures, forcing pedestrians to jump out of the way. Pedestrians were left bewildered as cars in Southall, West London, carelessly chose to ignore road closure signs telling them that they could not pass. The road closure is understood to be outside of Beaconsfield Primary School on Beaconsfield Road. WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Jan. 6 committee is shutting down, having completed a whirlwind 18-month investigation of the 2021 Capitol insurrection and sent its work to the Justice Department along with a recommendation for prosecuting former President Donald Trump. It is unclear whether the GOP-led House could enforce the provision and what they would do with the materials. The panel formally or informally interviewed more than 1,000 witnesses, collected more than 1 million documents and held 10 well-watched hearings. The panel recommended that the Justice Department prosecute Trump on four crimes, including aiding an insurrection. Lofgren says she believes the committee made clear that Trump was responsible for the insurrection and “it was not done at the last minute.”“I think we proved that and we sent it all to the Department of Justice,” Lofgren said.
