Arsenal twice trailed to goals from Ollie Watkins and Philippe Coutinho, only for Bukayo Saka and then Oleksandr Zinchenko to haul them level. "We are back with more belief than before because you have to turn performances into results," Arteta said. Arsenal's first victory in five games in all competitions will give them renewed belief they can pip City to the title. Everton moved out of the relegation zone with a valuable 1-0 win against fellow strugglers Leeds at Goodison Park.

ECP disqualifies Imran in Toshakhana reference

PHOTO: APPThe Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former premier Imran Khan on Friday as it announced its verdict in the Toshakhana (gift depository) reference. The verdict deseated Imran as per Article-63 (A) and ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against him for submitting a false statement. Earlier today, party leaders had directed workers to protest should the Toshakhana case decision come against Imran Khan. Toshakhana referenceThe ECP had reserved the verdict in the case on September 19. The reference sought the disqualification of Imran from public office under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

No plan of evicting Aitzaz from PPP, reveals insider

Party leaders from central Punjab then presented the entire episode as the initiation of the party procedure for the eviction of Barrister Aitzaz. Even post that, central Punjab kept their act up, keeping an aggressive stance against Aitzaz who they described as the reneging leader. Interestingly, central Punjab has given a protest call for Sunday, to push the party to expel Aitzaz from its folds. He, citing a source, alleged there was an audio recording of Imran and Aitzaz about making Aitzaz the prime minister. A senior PPP leader from Punjab, talking on the condition of anonymity, said that the party has not instructed them to hold any press conference against Atizaz.

Protests rage in Iran's southeast, amid crackdown call

Amnesty International has said security forces killed at least 66 people in a violent crackdown after Friday prayers in Zahedan on Sept. 30. State media said at the time that "unidentified armed individuals" opened fire on a police station, prompting security forces to return fire. The nationwide protests have turned into one of the boldest challenges to Iran's clerical rulers since the 1979 revolution. Other online videos purported to show protests in the central city of Isfahan and in Tehran's Ekbatan highrise neigbourhood. On Wednesday, an Iranian news agency said security forces had arrested 14 foreigners, including American, British and French citizens, for their involvement in the protests.

Punjab PA seeks CEC’s removal

As he started reading the resolution, the opposition lawmakers carrying placards and blowing whistles assembled in front of Speaker Sibtain Khan’s dais. They said the opposition members were standing between the speaker and the PTI lawmakers who were sharing their views over the ECP decision. Irrigation Minister Muhammad Hashim Dogar demanded that the speaker either take strict action or pass a ruling against the opposition lawmakers blowing whistles. The senior minister’s remarks flared tempers in the house with PTI lawmakers thumping the desks and the PML-N members shouting simultaneously. The Opposition lawmakers pointed out the quorum twice but their move proved futile as the treasury benches had the sufficient number to run the proceedings.

The story goes that the then Prime Minister hijacked the plane or was the prime mover and planner behind it since he wanted to replace Musharraf. The later penalty allegedly was held back on the intercession of heads of state of certain foreign countries. Originally hijacking as an offence was not part of the Anti-Terrorism Act and was subsequently added for the purpose of this specific case, applied retroactively. That is why ultimately in 2010 the Supreme Court acquitted the then PM from the offence of hijacking, as no evidence to that effect was forthcoming. Is cyber-security important to Pakistan?

In 2022, Pakistan faces the same state of affairs with cyber security. According to Federal Minister for Information Technology Syed Aminul Haque, over 900,000 hacking incidents take place in Pakistan daily. However, trustworthy firms that could issue security advisories, identify local threats, and have frontline expertise in threat intelligence, like Mandiant, do not exist in Pakistan yet. The Israeli government also joined the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to establish a new cybersecurity initiative with a $2 million seed fund. Tighter regulatory oversight of cyber security is coming, especially in Islamabad and the establishment is hoping to beef up oversight of such threats.

Despite Indians hailing Sunak's appointment as a historic moment for both countries, the political and economic instability he inherits has muted expectations for his tenure. "This is the third prime minister in a year," Himanshu Singh, an engineer, told AFP.
