On Wednesday, three men have been detained in connection to the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Political leaders such as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris and Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar have shown repugnance towards the shooting. ACC McEwan added that police officers in Northern Ireland are working under substantial threat and the PSNI is determined to provide their wholehearted support. To summarize, three suspects were apprehended in response to the shooting of John Caldwell, an off-duty police officer from Northern Ireland, critically damaging his condition. Leaders from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the UK, Ireland and the public have expressed their shock, distress and adamant condemnation of this barbarous action.
