Gold, jewellery sales glitter during Dhanteras; higher footfall after India-Pakistan match

On Sunday, gold prices continued to rule at Rs 50,139 per 10 grams, excluding taxes, in the national capital, higher than Rs 47,644 per 10 grams on Dhanteras day in 2021. Normally, 20-30 tonnes of gold is sold on a Dhanteras day. On the second day of Dhanteras on Sunday, there was a lull in the jewellery markets owing to the India-Pakistan cricket match. Not only pre-wedding jewellery, fresh buying of gold jewellery and coins was seen this time. Uttar Pradesh-based Aisshpra Gems and Jewels director Vaibhav Saraf said, "We have witnessed more movement in lighter gold jewellery and coins this year.

G20 summit: Reading into the significance of the Modi-Xi handshake

The lender today reported a net profit of Rs 209.3 crore for the quarter ended September (Q2FY23) against a loss of Rs 3,008.6 crore reported in the same quarter last year. Total advances grew by 17.4 percent to Rs 95,834.9 crore, against Rs 81,661.2 crore logged in the year-ago period. Total operating cost increased by 33 percent at Rs 1,834 crore from Rs 1,383 crore in Q2FY22. Revenue was up 6.8 percent at Rs 540.1 crore vs Rs 505.8 crore while EBITDA fell 62.1 percent to Rs 28.3 crore vs Rs 74.7 crore.
